Lane teaches a variety of workshops in the U.S. and Canada on writing, comedy, storytelling, stand-up, gender, feminism, LGBT issues, queer theory, and oftentimes all of the above. Her Write Now: Writing Even If Your Not Ready workshop is a favorite at the Women In Comedy Festival, where it sells out every year, and has also been featured in SplitSider, The Boston Globe and Poets & Writers, where it’s listed as their critic’s pick.
“Lane Moore hosts a workshop called “Write Now: Writing Even If You’re Not Ready” [focusing] on encouraging female writers to submit and publish their work. “Men are sure of themselves, and they can be believed. With women, if you say you do something, you better be the best at it in the world. So I understand why women are hesitant [to write and submit their work] but I want to help make that better,” said Moore on the workshop.”
Write Now: Writing Even If Your Not Ready
Whether you have an idea for a joke, a screenplay, a comic book, or a song, it’s very easy to think of reasons why you shouldn’t even bother. What if it isn’t good enough? What if it’s been done before? What if you’re not even talented? We’ll focus on writing and creating even if you think you’re not ready yet, not good enough yet, or if you just can’t get motivated to create whatever you want to. We’ll also discuss possible reasons why women tend to second guess themselves more often then men do, and explore the best ways around your fears, blocks, and overall doubts about you and your work so that you can stop second guessing yourself and start creating that thing you’ve always wanted to create.
